I never attended church as a child. I would go with my grandmother sometimes, but never got serious about church. I really got started going to church when I was 21 years old. The only reason I started going was to see my girlfriend Susan. Her dad told me that the only way he would allow me to date her was I went to church with them. If I missed a day of church or Susan missed a day we could not see each other. That was the only way I was allowed to date her (per her dad). So I went to church not caring about what the preacher had to say or what Jesus did, I just wanted to see Susan.

I remember when God got my attention. I loved horses and one Wednesday night we were at church and the AC wasn’t working so we were in the back of church in the fellowship hall. The preacher was talking about the end times. He said there will be a day when the blood will be as tall as horses main. That caught my attention and I have been in the word ever since. I was saved at the age of 21, and baptized in August of 1997. Susan and I got married July of 1998 and have been happily married for 26 years. God has blessed me with 4 beautiful daughter ages from 14 years old, 16 years old, 18 years old, and 24 years old and a 2 year old granddaughter.

I started serving in my home church, Pope City Baptist Church, in 2002 playing the drums and teaching Pre. K. I worked my way through all the grades up to Youth. Where I became the Youth Director and began to Since Gods calling on my life to the ministry. I surrendered to Gospel Ministry in March 2004, and completed the Certificate of Ministry in April of 2007 through East Texas Baptist University. I started my BA degree in Christian Studies in September 2013, and completed my studies in October 2016 all on-line. I received my MDiv in 2020.

I was licensed to the Gospel Ministry in April 2007. I was Ordained to the Gospel Ministry in September 2007. I am currently serving as pastor of Woodlawn Baptist Church, where I have been since 2023.

I believe that all have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God (Romans 6:23). I tell people all the time that the only difference between me and a nonbeliever is I have been saved by the grace of God. I am still a sinner. I am thankful that God demonstrated His love for us (me), while we were still sinners Jesus died for us (me) (Romans 5:8). I have a simple motto: Jesus Saves (John 3:16, Romans 5:8). He loved us so much that He took all the punishment that we deserved and died on that Old Rugged Cross. He showed His love when Jesus said “Father forgive them for they know not what they do.” He showed His love when He prayed for us in John 17. Jesus showed His love when He restored Peter in John 21. That tells me that he will restore anybody and everybody if they believe in Jesus.

As Music Minister for Woodlawn Baptist Church I enjoy singing with the choir
and congregation, lifting up our voices in praise and thanksgiving. Our songs
are taken from Biblical scripture and tells everyone how Great and Awesome
God is and of His Grace and Mercy. We tell the story of Jesus and how Jesus
saves. People need the Lord. We sing the words from the Bible that bring joy,
comfort, and hope for a future with Jesus.
Our prayer is for the Holy Spirit to use the hymns we sing to minister to people
and to touch and transform lives.

Ps 104:33 I will sing to the Lord as long as I live; I will sing praise to my God
while I have my being.

I have been married to Charlotte (wife) since January 1988. We have been
living in the Karnack, Texas area since 1991.
I have one daughter, Karen and two step-sons Paul and Donald and am
blessed with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

My single mom (at the time) made sure we went to church and revivals. Somewhere between first and second grade I was saved and baptized. I have since known I have an awesome Father in Heaven always loving me and looking taking care of me, even when I made stupid mistakes. There was nothing I could do to make Him leave me and that powerful love has sustained me to this day. My husband and I credit God for being our “ matchmaker “, and we’re still going strong after 30 years!

We’ve seen God save jobs and create jobs, plus so many more miracles in our life that are blessings from Him.

I love my family, especially grandchildren! I enjoy the outdoors with all my animals and plants.

I have spent many years as a Sunday school teacher and now I have the honor to be their youth leader! Helping young people see how awesome God is , showing them they have a heavenly Father that always has their back and ways we can praise Him is such a privilege! I truly love doing this and serving God with an outstanding group of young people!❤️
